Hello there!
I’m Claire and welcome to my small corner of the internet! So who am I and why should you work with me? Professionally, I’ve worked in the corporate world for about 25 years, so I have the experience of deadlines, needing things done yesterday (or preferably last week!) and working to a myriad of policies and processes, which don’t always make sense.
You’re not here because I’m organised though and there is more to me than that. I’m a certified life coach and in the summer of 2026, after 5 months of not sleeping, and definitely being perimenopausal, I trained as a menopause support coach, so I could better understand what was going on with my body, advocate for myself with my doctors and help my clients through what is a really hard time of life.
I turned 50 this year and I’m adopting the mantra: if not now, when? We only get one life and I fully intend to make the most of the rest of mine.
I’ve worked in the public and private sectors and had my own business. I’ve had some amazing experiences and also some I would never wish on anyone. I’ve lived through debt, chronic pain and depression and I’m still standing.
I’m an introvert, definitely happier behind the scenes and give me a pen and some paper over the latest fancy tech!
I have an incredible support network and I truly believe that if you want to make something happen, you’ll find a way, even though it may take you years.
In the summer of 2023 I knew I didn’t want to work for someone else anymore, but I had no idea what it was I did want. After 7 long years, I’d gotten myself back on my feet, cleared my debt, navigated my way through a global pandemic but wanted more for myself. I had a session with a coach, having already been aware of the power of coaching, and when I was reflecting on our time together, and compiling a list of my skills, talents and passions, I realised that I wanted to use the experiences I had to help others and I signed up to train to be a life coach.
I completed (and passed!) my training in March 2024 and then hit pause, because I wanted to buy a house and doing that, whilst working full time and starting a business felt like I was taking on a bit too much!
Fast forward to April 2025, I was settled in my new home, took a website building course and a course to ensure that my business is legally legitimate and compliant and launched Claire Melvin Coaching. Whilst celebrating my first business birthday, I took the decision to pivot, and in the summer of 2026 trained as a menopause support coach and I’m now also a menopause trainer.
Why menopause? I had my first perimenopausal symptoms at the end of 2025 and after 3 nights of interrupted sleep, feeling boiling hot, so very thirsty and desperate for the loo, all around 3am, I realised this wasn’t excitement at seeing in the new year, it was perimenopause. As 2026 unfolded, so other symptoms came along – the exhaustion to go along with the interrupted sleep, swollen ankles, shoulder pain (both of them), dry eyes, forgetfulness, bursting into tears for no reason whatsoever, joint pain, headaches and irregular periods.
I went to my GP and was initially emailed some leaflets on perimenopause. I went back and my doctor refused to acknowledge anything else was going on with my body. I was nearly 50, I had loads of symptoms, I was perimenopausal but I wanted the reassurance that nothing else was going on with my body. I didn’t get it. The doctor prescribed HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) and called it a ‘magic pill’ and sent me on my way.
It turned out that this HRT wasn’t the right one for me (it’s actually not unusual to not find the ‘right one’ for you at the first go). I decided I needed to understand what was going on, to educate myself on what was happening, and the more I learned, the more I realised that women are being let down and I really wanted to help, so that’s what I’m doing.
How can I help you? I know what it’s like to be carrying everything, the job, home, life, maybe the occasional foray into the gym, and to feel like you’re doing menopause completely alone, especially if you’re single or don’t have anyone at home to share the load with. My experiences are my own, but if you’re recognising yourself in any of this, I can promise you a safe, judgement-free space, where we work out what’s actually going on in your body and build a plan that gets you feeling like you again.
I know you’ve got bills to pay, a job to hold down, a life that doesn’t stop just because your hormones have other ideas. I can help you find your way through it without having to put everything else on hold.
Look me up on social media (links below), read my blog, get to know me a bit better, and if you like what you see, I’d love to support you.
