June is probably one of my favourite months of the year. Yes, I have my birthday in this month, but it’s a month that feels full of possibilities. We’re getting to halfway through the year, so it’s a good time to pause, reflect on what’s happened so far and what is yet to come. And if, like me, you’re in the UK, the mornings are light, the evenings are light, and summer is just around the corner.

I like to pause and take stock every now and then – how am I doing, what’s going well, what do I want to change and am I still going where I want to? Doing this every quarter, or even half-year, means you can make some tweaks and I find if I don’t do this, I can drift a little. Sometimes I’m OK with that, but I have a milestone birthday next year and I don’t want to go through the motions anymore. I took the decision to retrain as a life coach and to start a business, so now I owe it to myself to make it successful (whatever successful means to me) and to live the life that feels authentic and aligned with my values and beliefs.

If I asked how has 2025 gone so far, what would your answer be? If you gave it a number out of 10, with 1 being ‘urgh, terrible,’ to 10 being ‘the best year of my life!’ what would your score be? I think I’d rank it a 7.5; pretty good, but room for improvement.

What’s gone well? I’ve started a business! It’s no longer a pipe dream for me, it’s a real thing. I’ve registered with HMRC, the ICO, I’ve got contracts in place, I’ve built a website and things are going pretty well. Have I ticked off every box? No, but I’m OK with that that.

And what’s stopping it from scoring higher? I’m probably going to say my boundaries and lack thereof. I’ve not exercised enough, not slept enough, not drunk enough water and probably (definitely) put my job and my business ahead of me too many times. It’s easily done and something I want to change going forward.

There’s also been guilt that I haven’t posted on-line every week, though I am getting better at reminding myself that I’m human and can’t do everything. I want to create content so that if I don’t have time to do something or life happens, I have a back up and I’m not there yet.

I’ve created a page in my business journal that I add to every time I do a course, attend a workshop or hit a business goal so when I come to look back on the year in December, I can remember just what I have done, because actually, it’s already a lot.

So over to you; how would you score 2025 so far, out of 10? This isn’t a competition and if you find yourself at a 2 or 3, maybe think how you can move it to a 4 or a 5 for the second half of the year. If you want some help with that, drop me a message and I’d love to help.
