The Power of a Mind-Dump

Last weekend I did a big mind-dump of everything that needs doing. It’s on a giant piece of paper and it’s both a relief at me having gotten it all out of my head and a tad overwhelming as there’s a lot there.

Last week I tackled none of it. For various reasons, I ended up being in the office 4 of the 5 days. I rarely get home before 7pm when I go into the office and on Tuesday, it was closer to 8pm. I also don’t do much exercise, my food choices aren’t always brilliant and, as happened last week, I get tired, which leads to back ache.

Choosing Rest Over Hustle

I’m not saying this to elicit sympathy, I’m saying it’s life. And we do the best we can. Over the past weekend, I made the deliberate choice to take it easy.

  • I went to Winterbourne Gardens for the honey fair.
  • I know an apiarist, so I went to support him and am now stocked up with honey for the winter!
  • I took the time to just be. I wandered around the gardens, appreciating the quiet and the green.
  • I thought about how I can make things easier for myself this coming week.
  • I was grateful for everything that I have.

Simple Shifts to Make the Week Easier

So what am I doing differently this week?

  • The slow cooker is coming out, which means I can throw some food in at the start of the day and I have a healthy dinner with minimal effort, and leftovers for the week.
  • I’m making a more conscious effort to move – not just walk and get up from my desk, but yoga as well.
  • I’m making sure I stay hydrated and get good sleep.
  • I’m planning my evenings so I can have short, focused sessions on my business, get stuff done and still take time out to rest.
  • Finally, I’m being kind to myself.

Balance, Self-Care, and Kindness

It’s that time of year when sniffles are going around and it’s really important to look after yourself. I’ve spoken a lot about balance recently, and it’s something that was definitely lacking from my life last week.

A Gentle Reminder for You

Be realistic with what you can achieve and let go of what you can’t. And if you need some help, get in touch as I’d love to support you.
